Ruben Garcia aka GarcyNoise is a force in electronic music, not just in his native Spain, but internationally. He was born in Pamplona, Spain, but currently lives in Barcelona, where he has spent the last decade. This cosmopolitan city has allowed him achieve his true creative potential. He currently divides his time between music production, sound engineering, DJing and running his own record labels. His professional experience does not end here. He counts radio show host, record shop owner and director of DJ and new technologies at a music school in Navarra as just three of the roles he has had over the years. Musically, he defines his sound as electronic house and US techno.

Following the natural path of many DJs and music lovers, Garcy started making his own music in 1997. His tracks and remixes have been released on an impressive array of Spanish and international labels. These include Pulshar’s (Pablo Bolivar & Aphro Sainz) Avant Roots label, Nacho Marco’s Loudeast, Lovemonk, Regular and US imprints such as Aesoteric and OM. He has collaborated with producers such as Pablo Bolivar, Nacho Marco, Tres Manos and International Bitch. His two current collaboratory projects are Aiby & The Noise with International Bitch and Körper Und Seele with Pablo Bolivar. GarcyNoise plans to release his debut album in 2012.

In 2004, GarcyNoise set up Justified Cause Recorthings. This label has released many of his tracks and music from the likes of Lunar City Express, Tom Demac, Piek, Pablo Sanchez, Kissey Asplund, Pablo Bolivar, & Satour. Justified Cause has a sub-label named Justified Entertainment, which releases music by artists that Garcy has signed. Over the years, GarcyNoise’s tracks have been remixed by names such as King Kooba, Brett Johnson, Claro Intelecto and Martin Landsky. As a remixer himself, Garcy has always been in demand, creating remixes for a huge number of artists. Past remix clients include Groove Armada, Charles Webster, Pezzner, Johnny Fiasco, Atjazz, Iz&Diz, Solar Sides, Chuck Love. GarcyNoise also produces special edits for his own use as a DJ. You can find a number of edits on his soundcloud page.

As a sound engineer, he has mastered material for labels such as Plastic City, OM, Smoke N’ Mirrors and Your Only Friend. In the live environment, he has engineered for the Varadero orchestra. Away from the music world, his productions have been used for documentaries, Sony Playstation and PC video games, facebook games and also by political groups. As a result of his production work and DJing, Garcy took up the position of director of DJ and New Technologies in the music department at EMMA (School of Modern Music) in Navarra, where he taught courses and workshops on electronic music production and DJing in the late 90s and early 00s. He has also taught course at UPNA (Public University of Navarra).

Buying vinyl from an early age, Ruben began DJing and putting on parties in northern Spain during 1994, aged 17. Since then, he has held DJ residencies in Barcelona, Bilbao, Pamplona and Khabarovsk (Russia). Venues he has held residencies at include Macarena, Nicolette Club, Artsaia, Ertz and Caos club. He appeared at the Klubbers festival in Madrid and regularly spins all over northern Spain. Further afield, Ruben has played in the USA, France, Italy, Germany and Switzerland. Since 2008, Garcy has toured Russia twice a year, each year, playing in places such as Moscow, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok and Gelendzik. He has played alongside a huge number of DJs such as Brett Johnson, Martin Landsky and D’Julz. He has also opened up for live acts such as Orbital. His weekly radio show, Digital Traxx was broadcast weekly in the 90s and today he still does regular podcasts. His love of vinyl and record collecting goes hand in hand with his love of music and he can sometimes be found playing disco from his collection, as well as house and techno. Garcy ran a record shop named Stereo Records and later worked for Decoder Muzique, a Barcelona based distributor.

GarcyNoise has a wealth of experience, in a variety of musical spheres. 2012 will see him continue to follow his own musical path, with a number of releases in the pipeline for his Justified Cause imprint. His first artist album is set to drop this year and he will continue his projects with International Bitch and Pablo Bolivar. On the DJ front, he will play both nationally and internationally, with regular podcasts available to those unable to catch his sets in clubs.
